Andrea currently Chairs Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. In addition, Andrea serves on the statewide Political Fund Raising Committee and the Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, Legislative Committee. Andrea has also served on the Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. Affordable Housing Committee, and the Audit Committee, as well as the Founder and Chair of the Litchfield County Council for a Clean Environment. Having attended Naugatuck Valley Community College where she was an honor student of legal studies, Andrea holds honorary membership in Phi theta Kappa and LEX National Honorary Societies. After completing her legal internship at the Waterbury, Connecticut Superior Court where she worked on criminal and family law cases, Andrea pursued a career in Real Estate at Learning Unlimited, in Torrington, Connecticut. This school is owned and operated by teacher and mentor, Christopher Ashe.
Andrea's real estate success has progressed with speed and has earned her the respect of her clients and colleagues. After only one year in real estate, Andrea left a rather large real estate company to accept an offer to manage a very small real estate office that was virtually invisible and within one year increased the offices gross sales by 700%. During her time managing that small office, Andrea regularly turned to her friend and mentor Christopher Ashe for guidance. These conversations led to the maturation of many ideas. Chris and Andrea became convinced that these ideas were worth sharing with the public.
Fair Choice Realty was founded in the fall of 2006 by Andrea Becker Abbott and Christopher Ashe to provide specialty real estate options tailored to fit each client according to their individual needs or preferences. That winter, Andrea lost her dearly beloved father, Russell Mollica. While contemplating burial options, Andrea's sister, Catherine Mollica suggested a “Green Burial.” This burial would strongly influence Andrea's real estate model to include sustainability. Andrea's research and interest in sustainability led her to start the “Green Committee” which has 15 members that include REALTORS® and other non-member professionals. The Local Chapter of the Association of Home Builders and the “Green Committee” are currently partnering on Torrington, Connecticut's first “Green Home.” This project has been wonderful for public relations and for the community. Andrea's success with this committee led the creation of the Connecticut Association of REALTORS Sustainability Committee and her nomination as REALTOR of the Year. Andrea's innovative techniques and contribution to smart growth have been documented on television and in magazines.
